Prof Dr Yusuf Özkul graduated from Fırat University in 1985. He completed his master's degree in Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Genetics in 1990. He received his PhD from Gazi University and ICRF London in 1990. He continued his postdoctoral studies at Emory University, Atlanta, USA and Utrecht University, Netherlands. In 2003, he received the title of professor in Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Genetics.
Dr. Özkul served as the vice director of Erciyes University Health Sciences Institute and the vice dean of Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine. He has been working as the founding director of Erciyes University, Betül-Zıya Eren Genome and Stem Cell Center Research Center and Gevher Nesibe Genome and Stem Cell Institute since 2010. He has supervised the dissertations of over forty masters and doctoral students. He has carried out more than eighty different research projects. He has been involved in over 250 published scientific studies.
