ABOUT SUMMIT

Dear colleagues,

It is my pleasure to invite you to the second Sechenov International Biomedical Summit (SIBS). This year SIBS is going to take place on May 21^st – 23^rd at the Industrial Biomedical Park of Sechenov University.

Nowadays, biomedicine brings together researchers from numerous scientific disciplines, thus presenting a vidid example of an effective multidisciplinary collaboration. Physicians, biologists, chemists, physicists, cytologists and biomaterials specialists, programmers, mathematicians and bioinformaticians all unite to improve human health. Life-long health management from family planning to healthy longevity defines the key research direction of the new Sechenov University and shapes the second SIBS agenda.

Over the last few years, Sechenov University has been transforming into research university that will be able to generate new knowledge and innovations to tackle current global challenges. At the core of Sechenov research and innovation lies the Industrial Biomedical Park that incorporates five research institutes for molecular, regenerative, translational and personalized medicine and bionic technology as well as the International School 'Medicine of the Future' and Centre for Technology Commercialization. We believe that this structure is fit for solving both current and future ambitious biomedical issues.

Throughout three days of SIBS, you will hear the results of cutting-edge studies in the following areas:

• Current drug design
• Molecular biomarkers and molecular targets of human diseases
• Biomaterials in regenerative medicine
• Bionic technologies and engineering
• Personalized medicine & 3D bioprinting

A geographical distribution of the Summit's speakers proves its international status: our speakers come from the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, China, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland and, obviously, Russia.

Hence, I am honoured to invite all researchers, both young and senior, post- and undergraduate students as well as everyone who wants to learn something new about biomedicine, to join the Sechenov International Biomedical Summit. A time spent there will surely bring us all closer to new discoveries!

Dear colleagues,

As a Professor Emeritus of Sechenov University, I am proud to invite you to join the Sechenov International Biomedical Summit (SIBS).

At times of my youth, there was a well-defined boundary between biology and medicine. If a young man was keen to study both disciplines, he must have chosen just one of them. The same happened to me: I first obtained a degree in medicine and only then I could learn the fundamentals of biology.

Conversely, these days, biomedicine unites both fields of knowledge and demonstrates rapid development and successful implementation of a multidisciplinary approach. If you do not want to be left out, you have a great chance to join the Sechenov International Biomedical Summit.

I hope that knowledge obtained during the Summit will allow you to look at this world from a different perspective.
